Don’t worry, fitting your footrest release latch is a super quick job, and once you’ve done it a couple of times, it’ll feel like second nature. This latch is what keeps your footrest securely locked in place while still allowing for an easy release when needed.
These particular latches use a spring-loaded bolt and an internal nut to create a smooth but secure locking action.
✅ Tools Needed: AN ALLEN KEY
(We can provide one if needed!)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Get Your Parts Ready
You should have:
- The black release latch
- A bolt with a spring
- A silver nut (this sits inside the latch)
Lay everything out so it’s easy to work with before you begin.

Insert the Bolt and Spring
Take the bolt with the spring attached and push it into the lower hole on the connection point of the frame.
Push it all the way through until you can see the threaded end coming out the other side.
Position the Latch
Place the silver nut inside the black latch. Hold it in place, then line the latch up with the bolt.
You may need to adjust it slightly so everything lines up properly — this is normal.

Let’s Tighten!: Connect the Bolt to the Nut
Using your Allen key, begin turning the bolt clockwise.
As you tighten, the bolt will catch the nut inside the latch and start pulling everything together.
Keep going until it feels secure.
Check Movement
Before finishing, press the latch a few times.
You’re looking for a smooth movement with a slight spring return — that’s how you know it’s working correctly.
Check Security
Give the latch a quick wiggle to make sure it’s firmly attached.
If it feels loose or stiff:
- Slightly tighten or loosen the bolt
- Check the nut is seated correctly inside the latch
🔄 If You Need to Adjust
If something doesn’t feel quite right:
- Loosen the bolt slightly
- Reposition the latch and nut
- Tighten again until the movement feels smooth
